Douglas B. Quine in Antarctica, 2015
Douglas B. Quine graduated from Princeton University (BA) and Cornell University (PhD). He is now a retired biologist, postal automation engineer with 50 U.S. patents, and world traveler to all 7 continents. Years of research included bird hearing, observations of birds on weather radar, changes in hearing associated with multiple sclerosis, development of postal automation and anthrax detection systems, and medical informatics. He has published 24 scientific papers, over 90 philatelic articles and notes, 3 book chapters, co-edited 2 books of his father's philosophy, taught 3 university courses, and delivered 73 lectures. In retirement, he continues to write papers on modern postal history including seminal papers on two long unexplained USPS letter barcodes. As an avid photographer since youth, Doug found writing haikus a wonderful way to more fully appreciate his Around The World photographs in the moment.
